You may have seen the phrase “Keeping Utah Beautiful” on highway signs or in the news. Here’s what the program is, how it works in the Ogden area, and how it fits alongside the volunteer cleanup work happening right here in our community.
What Is “Keeping Utah Beautiful”?
Keeping Utah Beautiful is UDOT’s volunteer litter pickup program, launched in 2024 to replace the old Adopt-a-Highway program. It allows volunteer groups to sign up online for a one-time litter cleanup along a state road of their choosing. UDOT provides the bags and safety instructions.
How to Sign Up for a Weber County Cleanup
Visit UDOT’s Keeping Utah Beautiful website and select a road segment in the Ogden/Weber County area. For Northern Utah, the regional coordinator is Cheryl Marz at UDOT. Note that volunteers must be at least 14 years old, and interstate highways are not included for safety reasons.
Beyond the Highway: Keeping Ogden’s Trails and Parks Beautiful
While Keeping Utah Beautiful focuses on roadways, Pliking Inc. covers the rest — the trails, river pathways, parks, and open spaces that make Ogden special. Together, these programs complement each other and give Ogden residents multiple ways to make a tangible difference.
We’ve logged more than 10,000 volunteer hours right here in Northern Utah, and we’re just getting started.
If you want to keep Ogden beautiful, we’d love to have you join us. Find upcoming events at pliking.org.
