The first Earth Day was held on April 22, 1970, the same day as Arbor Day and a convenient day – in between spring break and final exams – for the thousands of college students who demonstrated in the streets. It is estimated that 20 million people participated that first year. The 2021 theme for Earth Day, which is always held on April 22, is “Restore Our Earth.” Pliking will be supporting events sponsored by Utah Running to help restore our earth by picking up litter in cities around the state. More information to come!
